A human adult or animal is a creature that has developed to its full potential. Adults are a social concept as well as a legal concept within the world of humans. In contrast to "minor" (or "non-adult" an legal adult is an individual who has achieved an age at which they are majority. They are regarded as competent, responsible and independent. Adulthood refers to the time in the human lifespan in which full physical and intellectual maturity have been attained.
